child kept in cubboard
A couple have been charged over allegations that they kept their daughter in a cupboard for a year.The 12-year-old girl was let out to go to school but once back home was only released to use the bathroom and occasionally to eat, according to police in Brownsville, Texas. link

I feel like this is a lot like the case that happened about 4 or so years ago. There was an incident where the parents punished their child by having them drink water every time they did something bad. The end result was that the child had died due to drowning. The amount of water they drank diluted the salt in their body and they ended up drowning from the inside.
